Billy R. Vickers

Billy R. Vickers is the president and chief executive officer of Dublin, Ohio based Modular Assemblies Innovations (MAI). MAI is the parent corporation of a group of companies -- Great Lakes Assemblies, LLC (GLA), Gulf Shore Assemblies, LLC (GSA) and Indiana Assemblies, LLC (IA) -- that provide modular assembly manufacturing and supply chain management services. The company employs more than 250 associates in East Liberty, Ohio, Lincoln, Ala., and Greensburg Ind. In 2010, the combined revenue from the group of companies was nearly $650 million.
Mr. Vickers joined TAG Holdings, the former majority owner of GLA, GSA and IA in 2005. He had primary responsibility for the launch of GLA and the establishment of TAG’s modular assemblies division in 2007. As the president and chief operating officer for the modular assemblies division of TAG Holdings (comprising approximately 80% of TAG Holdings’ revenue), Mr. Vickers’ responsibilities included manufacturing operations, planning and oversight, strategic growth, profit and loss, and new business acquisitions and development.
In recognition of GLA’s success, a major automotive customer awarded two new tire and wheel assembly operations – GSA in 2007 and IA in 2008 -- to TAG Holdings. Under Mr. Vickers’ leadership, GLA received the prestigious Honda
Excellence in Delivery award for 2006 and the Honda
Excellence in Quality award for 2010. GSA received Honda's prestigious dual award for
Excellence in Quality and Delivery for 2009. IA was the recipient of another Honda dual award for
Excellence in Quality and Delivery for 2010

Prior to joining TAG Holdings, Mr. Vickers was the owner of Yale Inspection Services, an MBE certified company providing quality-engineering services to the automotive supply base. Prior to owning Yale Inspection Services, Mr. Vickers served as director of operations and later as general manager of New Haven Foundry the (largest minority owned foundry in the United States). Mr. Vickers was successful in guiding New Haven and growing the business into a major tier one supplier to Chrysler and General Motors. Under his guidance, the plant experienced dramatic improvements in quality performance and employee participation while growing profits. Mr. Vickers served as the lead negotiator for two consecutive UAW contracts that eliminated incentive pay for production workers and created a tiered wage scale for new employees.
Previous to his employment with New Haven Foundry, Mr. Vickers served as plant superintendent for the Ironton Iron Casting plant in Ironton, Ohio. In this role, Mr. Vickers was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the manufacturing operations, quality, processing and new product launches, including the successful launch of the Ford I-Beam suspension program.
Mr. Vickers attended North Carolina State University on a football scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He played running back and today ranks 14th on North Carolina State’s list of all time average yards gained in a single season, 10th in all time career yardage gains – 489 carries for 2,189 yards, and is tied for 11th in all time rushing attempts in a single game with 30 attempts.
